Is this Certified Pool Operator (CPO) class accredited in my area?The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (formerly National Swimming Pool Foundation) Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is accredited across Canada, the USA and 105 countries around the world. If you are in Wake County in North Carolina, there is an additional Wake County CPO Exam that you need to pass. Can I complete the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) Certified Pool Operator (CPO) class entirely online?Yes! The CPO certificate issued at the end of the course is exactly the same as an in-person class.

How does the online Zoom CPO class work?Live attendance on Zoom is required by all class participants. Classes are capped at 22 people. The class is a dynamic learning environment with PowerPoint slides, videos, quizzes, and live chat. The 16-hour program is split over four consecutive 4-hour days: three days of instruction followed by one day of testing via Prometric. Participants must have access to a computer, tablet, smartphone or combination of electronic devices with a stable internet connection, sound and camera capabilities.

When will I receive my CPO textbook?For Zoom (online) classes, textbooks are shipped via USPS within 3 Days of registration. You will receive a tracking number via email. For in-person classes, all materials are provided on the first day of class. If you need a book in another language other than English please make sure that is communicated upon registration.

Can I transfer CPO class dates?Yes. Please contact Whitney to move your dates.

Can I switch CPO class participants?Yes. However, this MUST be done prior to the start of the CPO class; this cannot be done after the class has started. For Zoom classes all shipped materials will be given to the new participant. No new materials will be shipped.

Can I book a private CPO class for my organization?Yes. We offer both in-person and Zoom private CPO classes for a minimum of five participants. Please fill out the private course request form or email Whitney. Do I need experience to take the CPO class?No. Many participants with zero pool experience are successful on the CPO exam.

Do I need to pre-register for a CPO class?Yes. Registration closes 3 days before the first day of class or when the class sells out.

What happens if a participant fails the CPO exam?Participants are not required to retake the entire class if they fail the exam, however some do (at no additional cost) as a personal choice. Participants can rewrite a different CPO exam up to four times; a $50 retest fee applies.

Cancellation and Refund PoliciesIn-person Classes: Cancellations are accepted for full refund three days prior to the start of class. After that there will be no refund; however, you can reschedule your class dates one time. Online Classes: Cancellations are accepted for a full refund prior to materials being shipped. Cancellations made within three days of the start of class are eligible for $100 refund. Any cancellations after that can reschedule their class dates one time without a refund.

What happens if I fail the exam?Don't stress! If you do fail the exam you can retake the exam for an additional $75 fee.

Will I be certified after completing this class?Upon completion of the course the participant will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED and First Aid for the professional rescuer for 2 years.

Do you offer additional certifications?Yes! We can add on several modules upon request. An additional $75 fee will be added for each additional course. Is there a class minimum?Yes, there must be a minimum of 5 participants.

Can I cancel?Yes! You can cancel up to three days in advance for full refund.

What happens if I fail the class?There will be no refunds for failing any part of the lifeguard course. However, the participant may attend one additional class to try for completion.

Is there an age limit to take the lifeguard certification course?Yes, all participants must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of the course.

What should I bring with me to class?This course is a blending learning class. Access to a computer, phone or tablet is required. Picture ID Swimsuit Towel Warm clothing Something to take notes with Goggles, sunglasses and sunscreen Pack lunch or money to purchase lunch (We will take an hour lunch break) Drinking water

Are there any prerequisites to taking this course?- Participants must be at least 15 years of age. - Prerequisite 1: Jump in, submerge, resurface and swim 150 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, and then swim 50 more yards. While swimming, you must keep your face in the water and demonstrate good breath control. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. When treading, you must use only your legs. - Prerequisite 2: Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive (head-first or feet-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping your face at or near the surface. Swimming the distance underwater is not permitted. Exit the water without using a ladder or the steps.
